30 WEEKS!!!

Well, I have made it to 30 weeks but just got back from my doctor's appointment and she has officially put me on bed rest. The 2nd type of medicine that they have tried seems to be controlling the contractions which is good. It's just making me feel bad. It's a blood pressure med that is also used to slow contractions so right after I take it, my blood pressure drops and gives me bad headaches, dizziness, and weakness. But, it's worth it if it controls the contractions. I have to go back to the doctor each week where they will check me and do a non-stress test each time. Luckily, I haven't progressed since the first time so that's good. We are just thankful that I can rest at home and not have to be in the hospital yet. We are hoping that we can at least hit the 34 week mark.

Just wanted to give you all a quick update. Thanks for all your thoughts, prayers, and help so far. It's been greatly appreciated.

29 WEEKS

Just a quick update. I basically stayed on bed rest all weekend which definitely helped. I went from having 4-5 contractions every hour on Friday to 8 or 9 all day Sunday. Bret was great about taking care of Mason. And, we were so thankful that my parents came up as well. They stayed from Thursday to Monday which was a huge help!!! Mason really had a great time with them. I went back to work Monday for 1/2 a day then yesterday I tried a whole day. I only had 1 or 2 contractions yesterday which is great but I was worn out that night. I think I'm just going to have to take it easy. It's just hard not to help and play with Mason as much. I'm still taking the Terbutaline (generic for Brethine) every 4 hours so let's just pray that it will continue to control the contractions. Thanks to everyone that has offered help, prayers, and concern. It means so much.

Update on Me & Logan

Some of you might have already heard but it's just easier to sent a mass email then try to figure out who to send to. I went to my doctor Tuesday b/c I was having mild contractions 5 minutes apart. They did a non-stress test and an exam. The exam showed that I was a finger tip dilated which isn't good at 28 weeks. So, my doctor sent me to L & D so they could do another non-stress test and give me a shot of Brethine to slow the contractions. Since the first dose didn't knock them out, they decided to monitor me overnight. Luckily, the 2nd shot worked and it appears that we can control the contractions with Brethine, hopefully. Since the contractions slowed down Wednesday, she allowed us to come home with me being on bed rest until Monday then we will see. If we can't control the contractions with the Brethine, then they will have to give me Magnesium which I don't know much about but it sounds like a road I don't want to go down. Apparently, it makes the mom very sick and crazy while she's on it! And, you have to stay in the hospital while on that.

My parents are coming up today and staying until Monday to help us out. Bret has been awesome with picking up all the responsibility but I know it gets hard for 1 person to do all the time. Also, we have had some amazing friends already step in and help out or offer to help.

I just wanted to let everyone know what's going on. Please keep us in your prayers that we can control this and make it to term. I want to meet Logan but not quite yet! :)

Late Christmas Pics

Just a few pics from Christmas holidays and yes I do know that January is almost over. This pic is the one from our Christmas cards and the 2nd attempt at getting a good picture.
This pic is from the day we opened presents in B'ham before heading south. We got Mason a table and 4 chair set which he loves. It was interesting trying to put it together while Mason tried to help. Luckily no pieces were lost!
This is in Robertsdale on Christmas Eve. Mason actually ran fever that day so we weren't able to make it to Christmas Eve Mass but he still had a great time opening all his presents (after the Motrin kicked in).
This one is from a park in Brewton. Mason and his cousin, Clare, had a blast. It's crazy that it was hot enough to wear short sleeves during Christmas!

It's been a while!

Hey everyone! I know it's been over a month since I last updated this blog but it's been crazy with the holidays and work. I promise I will post pics soon. I just haven't found time to upload and edit them. Just a quick blog today - I had my gestational diabetes screening this morning and passed!!! Yay!!! I had to take the 3 hour one with Mason so I'm so excited that I don't have to with baby #2. My doctor's cut off is 135 and I was 101. Also, one more update. We've finally decided on a name. It's going to be Logan Curtis. We had a girl name all ready but it has taken us a while to decide on a boy name. We just really liked Logan for a first name and Curtis is a 4th generation name on my side. Mason's middle name - Thomas - is a 4th generation on Bret's side so we wanted to make sure we did the same thing this time around.

Pump It Up!!!

Last Saturday, we headed to ATL for our nephew's 5th birthday. It was great to visit with the whole family. Zachary had the party at Pump It Up. Mason had a great time. As you can tell by the 1st 2 pics, he wasn't too sure about the big slide until he hit the bottom then he was ready to head back up. After a few times, we let him go down by himself which he loved. Needless to say, Bret was worn out by the end. The 3rd pic was after Bret took Mason in the obstacle course. After a few minutes had passed, I thought to myself..."bad idea". As you can tell, Bret and Mason finally made it out but Bret was drenched with sweat.

Random Pics and Thanksgiving 08

Bret and I got Mason a table and chair set for Christmas. The 1st pic is of Mason standing on it! We had to finally put it in the closet so he would stop. Now, it is finally wrapped and under the tree.

Mason has always loved building and stacking things. The other day he stacked 12 blocks all by himself. We couldn't believe it. I'm just surprised that I had enough time to grab the camera before he knocked it down again. He was so proud of himself.
We had a great time over Thanksgiving. We spent 2 days in Robertsdale and 2 in Brewton. It was so nice visiting family. We took Mason to a park in R'dale on Friday to get him out of the house. He loved it. He had 1 path that he kept climbing up then sliding down. We were also able to visit with Amanda, Adam and John but I didn't get a chance to snap any pics. In Brewton, all of Bret's siblings were down so it was nice to hang out with the whole family. We headed to Andalusia to his grandmother's house on Saturday. The time flew by like always but we can't wait to head back down for Christmas.
