Crazy Week!!!

Well - we are finally back home. We headed south last Wednesday to look for a house. That week Mason was only at school for a day and 1/2. In that time, he managed to wake up Thursday morning with a stomach flu. We immediately separated the 2 kids as best we could b/c a 1 month old definitely didn't need to catch it. 2 days later Bret caught it and yesterday my dad came down with it. Bret said it's the worst one he's ever had - with fever and chills also. He laid in bed all day Saturday. Surprisingly, we actually found a house in the midst of all the craziness. Both my parents and Bret's parents helped out so much. It was insane. So far, both Logan and I have been fine but I will feel much better once we get to the weekend and no one else has come down with it. Mason stayed sick for about a week and Bret is just now feeling 100%. As far as the house, we are so excited and are planning on closing in a month if everything goes well!!! I will post some pics later.

Easter Weekend and 2 Wk appointment

So, I know I'm late on posting this but I think I can be forgiven - I do have a 3 week baby at home! We were in B'ham for Easter weekend by ourselves but still had a wonderful time. Mason loved his easter basket which had bubbles, markers, stickers, a flashlight, and most importantly candy. He now expects "Easter Bunny" candy after breakfast and dinner every day! We will have to work on that. Bret and Mason went to church while I stayed home with Logan. We also went to the park and had a great day. Logan did great - he slept the whole time. On Tuesday, Logan had his 2 week appointment which went great. He made it past his birth weight which we were so excited about. He's now 3 weeks and growing like crazy. Bret has been amazing helping at night with feedings. I really couldn't do it without him. We are heading south soon to look at houses and visit with family. It will be interesting travelling with a month old baby but we are really looking forward to it.

Update on Logan

Hey everyone. The first few weeks have gone well. It's been much easier this time around probably b/c I'm not so stressed out about everything. We've taken Logan to Brookwood to get weighed twice b/c we were worried that he wasn't gaining enough. He was slow to gain weight but is now catching up. He wasn't getting the "recommended" 8 feedings a day but was taking anywhere from 3 -4 oz each time. He's such a slow nurser - about an hour at each feeding. So, at night, Bret gives him a bottle and I pump. He takes it down in about 15 minutes so that's much better. I don't want to jinx anything but he's been pretty easy so far. He still sleeps most of the day and is doing well at night. At a week old, he can already pick his head up and turn it to the other side while on his stomach. It took Mason about 3 weeks. The other day I was trying to video tape him doing that when he decided to roll on his side and almost off the ottoman! I've attached the video of it. It's quick b/c I had to catch him. Bret and I joke around saying it must be the steroids they gave Logan in the hospital! I've also attached a few more pics. We have his 2 week appointment next Tuesday so I will update you all next week.

Logan's 1st Week

It's been a busy week. We were discharged Wednesday at 5 pm. It took forever b/c I had to be discharged from the floor and Logan had to be discharged from NICU. The morning after his birth, he was sent to the NICU b/c of a few reasons - tachypnia, hypoglycemia, grunting, and hypothermia. The tachypnia and grunting stopped quickly but the other 2 issues concerned the doctors enough to place Logan in NICU and treat with IV fluids and antibiotics in case of infection. He was finally allowed to hang out in our room and they let me nurse him starting Monday afternoon but had to return to the NICU each night. Luckily, they released both of us on Wednesday. The 1st night home was really good until around 3 am when he decided to stay up after his feeding. Last night went much better b/c he fell back asleep after each nursing. We will see about tonight. He had his 1st doctor's appointment today since he was a little jaundice but everything checked out great!!! I've attached a few pics from the last week.

Baby Logan is here!!!

Logan was born March 28, 2009 at 11:47 p.m. He was 7lbs 13oz and 20in long. Emily is doing great...once her water broke it was on to the OR for her repeat C-section. It was a lot easier to go through surgery when you don't push 2 and 1/2 hours beforehand. Logan is in the NICU because he is grunting and his temp. dropped but the Neonatologist is expecting no problems and that Logan will go home with us when we get discharged. We will probably be here until Wednesday and then the real excitement starts. Mason hasn't seen his little brother yet but he did have his "I'm a big brother" T-shirt on today. It will be interesting when the 2 meet to say the least.

37 Weeks!

Well, we finally made it to 37 weeks! YAY!!! My appointment went well. Still just 1 centimeter so we will see when Logan finally decides to arrive. I stopped taking the procardia on Sunday and I feel so much better. I guess I've been on it so long that I've forgotten how bad it made me feel. We also made it through Match day and Mason's party. We had such a wonderful time and the weather was great. I've posted a few pics from it.

Match Day 2009!!!

So, yesterday was a big day...UAB Match Day. We are so excited that Bret matched at USA in Mobile. We wanted either there or UAB so we are thrilled. We are so sad to be leaving B'ham after 6 years and will miss all our friends so much but are blessed to be moving closer to family and friends down south. With 2 little boys, I will greatly appreciate all the help!!! It was an insane day for me since that's the most I've been out in over 2 months but luckily I didn't go into labor sitting in a classroom at UAB! :) Both my parents, Mason and Bret's parents along with his sister (Erin), brother and sister-in-law (Kyle & McLean) were there. We had a big group. Now, it's on to getting ready for Mason's birthday party on Saturday. We reserved the park back in the fall before we knew I would be on bedrest. Mason's actual birthday isn't until April 5th and since my c-section isn't scheduled until April 7th we thought we were planning it just right. Oh well - since our families are already up for Match Day we are just going to go ahead with it and see what happens! Here's a few pics from the big day!
